Hammond Report April 21 2021 From Pandemic Quarantino Jon Hammond - Daily Music and Stories from the organist & accordionist Jon Hammond, today's
music story - actual audio recording of 1978 gig with the late great Lou Colombo the trumpet player (and was also a Pro Baseball player), here we are on the house
gig at the Wychmere Harbor Club in Harwich Port Cape Cod - I played Hammond B3 on Lou's band for 2 years. Very sadly / tragically he was killed while driving home
from gig at his daughter's restaurant in Fort Myers FL just a few days after I had visited him - Lou was one of the great jazz trumpet players, he played on the
Artie Shaw band "Artie Shaw and his Orchestra" with his long-time musical partner Dick Johnson (Dick became leader of Artie Shaw band, picked by Artie Shaw
himself) - greatly missed! Thompson's Clam Bar Alumni will remember Louie playing for a long time there at Wychmere Harbor, it's now called Wychmere Beach Club. I
just heard back from saxophonist Greg Abate, Greg played many gigs with Lou on The Cape. Keep the Spirt folks. Come back tomorrow for another Hammond
Report,
Jon Hammond
