Hammond Report June 15 2020 from Pandemic Quarantino
Jon Hammond Band - Music and Stories, today a recording and story about the Val Hal Jazz Pub in Fort
Greene, Brooklyn NY - I used to sub there for organist Don Patterson on the Hammond model A organ that once belonged to Count Basie. The Val Hal was located near Junior's Delicatessen and Brookly
Academy of Music - it was a real speakeasy. To gai
n entrance you had to knock on the door and then they'd look at you through a
hole. If they didn't recognize you, you had to talk your way in there. A lot of great horn players came in there to sit in with my organ combo - enjoy and be safe out there everybody! Monday 15
June 2020, c u around - back tomorrow! - Jon Hammond
